Yiddish is a 1000-year-old language of the Jews of Eastern Europe. Yiddish folk songs are deeply rooted in spiritual traditions, also they have been influenced by many other East European cultures. They speak about people’s everyday life and express every colour of human emotion.
We will look deeper into traditional and newly composed songs, as well as songs borrowed from neighbouring cultures that have now become part of the rich Yiddish song canon.
Led by Polina Shepherd, one of Europe’s leading musicians in this field, this workshop is open to all.Come and have lunch at the cafe beforehand, it’s great food an
